Responsibilities:
The Assistant Vice President for HPC provides strategic direction and leadership for OSU research computing endeavors, and is responsible for the strategic direction and operations of the OSU High Performance Computing Center (HPCC). This individual will establish a vision for research cyberinfrastructure and define and deliver services relevant to the needs of the OSU research community. This person must embody the mission and vision of OSU and be a catalyst for change, modeling the way for others to follow. Personnel management, as well as collaboration with OSU researchers, external constituents, and external collaborators, is a major part of this job. Helping to identify financial resources (internal and external) to expand, upgrade and modernize the High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure at OSU is expected.
This individual will work with executive leadership to help identify strategy, requirements, trends, and desired outcomes for research computing. He or she will stay abreast of trends and new advances in the HPC and other cyberinfrastructure (CI) matters by reading, researching, and participating in forums or communities of HPC/CI professionals.
Professional Qualifications:
Ph.D or EdD is required in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field in computational science. The ideal candidate must have five (5) to seven (7) years of experience conducting and/or assisting in conducting research reliant upon advance computing systems, as well as five years of administrative/management experience.
