GPN built a Research Platform (RP) modeled on the Pacific Research Platform.
This is a network diagram of the GPN Research platform. Our members are creating and continually improving it.
The GPN RP started with the purchase of seven FIONA nodes, one for each state. Other funds (varied from state to state) bought four more FIONA nodes bringing the total to 11. These FIONA nodes are configured as Data Transfer Nodes (DTNs).
The RP is made possible because of the region’s long history of intra- and inter-state collaborations such as the ONEOCII, ShowMeCI, ACI-REF Virtual Residency, the GPN Cyberinfrastructure Program Committee, and the GPN Network Technical Advisory Committee.
The GPN RP meetings are on Mondays. Email Kate or Mickey to be added to the calendar invite and email list if you are interested in attending. At each meeting they discuss timely topics in networking, network measurement, data transfer, operating systems, file systems, and anything else that strikes their fancy.
The group hosted two Software Carpentry workshops, and seeks out relevant training for our members.
