The Division of Technology & Security at South Dakota State University wishes to announce an opening for a Research Computing Domain Specialist.

This position will support research as an interface between high performance computing and other science disciplines.

The successful candidate will engage the university research community with efforts that include planning, coordination, and implementation of HPC solutions to support the computational needs within grant research.


  • PhD in computational, engineering, life or physical science, or related field completed by date of hire, and at least 1 year of computational experience.
  • Knowledge of symmetric multiprocessing and parallel processing systems, and of the scientific applications that run on them.
  • Ability to apply a skill-set of technical, reasoning and innovative problem solving skills.
  • The candidate should also possess good technical writing, program documentation and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrate strong professional interpersonal skills when interacting with the university research community.

Preference will be given to those with experience with research grant submissions, a PhD in a computational field and/or
computational experience in a higher education research environment.

Commensurate with education, experience and internal equity.
