Online CI Education Resources

With a pandemic, many people are unable to travel.  Many former face-to-face meetings have moved online.  Below is a list of some of them.

Virtual Residency 2020 Summer Workshop on INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED Research Computing Facilitation  on May 31 – June 5. Yearly workshop at OU with a wide variety of sessions. See website for schedule.

NANOG79 on June 1 – 3. Share and discover the latest networking technologies and best practices with the greater NANOG community — without ever leaving home.

Computational Chemistry for Chemistry Educators on June 1 – 10. This site is the companion Web-based resource for the Molecular Modeling workshop offered through the National Computational Science Institute (NCSI), funded in part by the NSF. This is an 11-session course designed to provide educators with sufficient information so that they can begin to use molecular modeling tools in the chemistry classroom to improve the education of their students.

iRODS 12th Annual User Group Meeting on June 9 – 12. On June 12, they will host an iRODS Troubleshooting session where participants can get some one-on-one help with an existing or planned iRODS installation or integration.

NERCOMP Annual Conference Online on June 23 – 25. The NERCOMP Annual Conference Online will feature just-in-time content to help higher education IT professionals, librarians, faculty, researchers, and innovative solution providers address the current challenges facing their institutions. Participants will be able to connect with peers and corporate partners to discuss the issues relevant to today and the future.

TrustedCI@PEARC20 Workshop on July 26 – 30.  The Fourth Workshop on Trustworthy Scientific Cyberinfrastructure (TrustedCI@PEARC20) provides an opportunity for sharing experiences, recommendations, and solutions for addressing cybersecurity challenges in research computing.

PEARC20 on July 26 – 30.  The PEARC Conference Series is working to integrate and meet the collective interests of our growing community by providing a forum for discussing challenges, opportunities and solutions among the broad range of participants in the research computing community.

Humans in the Loop on July 26 – 30.  This workshop will focus on the “and people” part of cyberinfrastructure, and in particular on the role of people in supporting the use of commercial cloud resources in research.

Open Science Grid (OSG) All-Hands Meeting on August 31 – September 3.  Currently scheduled in person at OU.

Science Gateway Community Institute: Jumpstart Your Sustainability Plan on June 16 – 18.  This will focus solely on offering practical and effective steps for developing a sustainability strategy.
