Software Carpentry @ UNL and UNO

The Holland Computing Center (HCC) is proud to host a Software Carpentry Workshop on August 13th and 14th. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

Topics covered include:

  • Automating tasks using the Unix shell
  • Software Version Control (Git)
  • Introduction to Programming using Python

This workshop will be held in both Omaha and Lincoln. Attendees can participate at either location and HCC staff will be on hand at both sites to assist with any issues.

Registration is now available.  Space is limited.
Participants must bring a laptop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. They should have a few specific software packages installed (listed here).

Cost: $25 for NU participants, $50 for non-NU
